George Edward Jessop was born in the parish of St.Marys,Leicester & enlisted in 1865 & despite serving over 13 years in India his LS&GC which was awarded in 1878 was his only medal entitlement. In 1876 he was part of the detachment sent to serve at the Port Blair penal colony on the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He finally took his discharge at Portland in 1886.
