Warburton Edward Davies was born 14-7-1879 and was educated at Eton & Sandhurst. He was commissioned in to the 2nd battalion of the Rifle Brigade 4-2-1899 and served with the 2nd battalion in South Africa including service at the Defence of Ladysmith. He was mentioned in Despatches for services in South Africa in the London Gazette on the 8th of January 1901 & was a Lieutenant by the end of the campaign. During WW1 he served in both France & Palestine with the Rifle Brigade & later went on to serve on the staff off the 64th division. He was mentioned in despatches three times for service in France 19-10-1914, 22-6-1915 & 1-1-1916 along with one M.I.D for service in Egypt 5-6-1919.He was awarded the DSO 3-6-1919, CMG in 1917 & the C.B.E 1-1-1923. Along with the Italian order of the crown, the French Legion of Honour, The Japanese order of the sacred treasure & the Egyptian order of the Nile.
The C.B.E, CMG, Order of the Nile & Order of the sacred treasure are missing from the group.
