Norman Smith from Sheffield first landed in France 13-4-1915 serving with the Royal Engineers. He was a former member of the York & Lancaster regiment with service number 1326 but never served overseas with them (possibly a Sheffield city battalion man?) He was mentioned in despatches for services in France in the London gazette 14-12-1917 & this was followed by the award of the Military Medal (MM) for services in France with the 49th West Riding Divisional Signal company in the London gazette 13-9-1918. He took discharge in March 1919 & was awarded the Territorial efficiency medal in army order 192 dated May 1922.
Complete with the recipients original MID certificate, discharge certificate & three original photographs of the recipient in uniform. Along with MIC details, medal roll details, London gazette details & army order details.
The medals are NEF & the original paperwork is clean & tidy but shows signs of both age & use.
