Rodney Ross Elford was born in Uckford 4-7-1892 & served with the 2/8th battalion of the Durham Light Infantry during WW1. At the outbreak of WW2 he can be found on the 1939 register as living in Reading & serving as a Special Constable. He died 1-5-1982 in Crowborough age 89.
