WW2 RAF PILOTS AIR CREW EUROPE CASUALTY GROUP, WITH ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, EX HALTON APPRENTICE
1939-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star with France & Germany clasp, Defence medal & 1939-45 War Medal all as issued to the Next of Kin of-
PILOT.OFFICER.PATRICK.ALEXANDER.TAYLOR
Patrick Alexander Taylor from Newcastle on Tyne enlisted in to the RAF as a Halton apprentice with service number 575566 & on the 6th of June 1944 he was commissioned as a pilot officer with 197 squadron. He was the pilot of a Hawker typhoon with 197 squadron when on June 27th 1944 his aircraft suffered catastrophic engine failure after take off from RAF Needs Oar Point in Hampshire & he crashed as Fawley. He was 20 years of age at the time of his death & is buried at Brookwood military cemetery. The CWGC state that he was the late son of Major Fred Taylor & Frances Elizabeth Taylor of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The group is swing mounted as worn by his next of kin & comes complete with the following original documents.
1) The recipients named & numbered vaccination card dated 29-12-1942
2) postal envelope dated 23-6-1944 & posted from Newcastle on Tyne to the recipient as a pilot officer.
3) RAF Christmas card for Christmas 1943 as sent by Pat from RAF Tangmere in Sussex
4) RAF Permanent pass named to the recipient whilst serving as A.C.2 at RAF Silloth December 1941.
5) 4 x original postcard size photographs of the recipient in uniform / flying kit as a SJT Pilot.
The Medals are in EF condition & the price is only slightly above the break up value of the individual medals.
