GEORGE ARMSTRONG (Special Constabulary)
George Busby Armstrong was born in Alnwick & enlisted in to the Imperial Yeomanry in Newcastle in 1901. He was 21 years of age at the time of his enlistment & served in South Africa from 13-3-1901 through to 8-9-1902 when he took returned home & took his discharge 18-9-1902. He again enlisted for service in WW1 & served with the 1/6th battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment with service numbers 6697 & 242975. He was captured by the Germans in June of 1918 & held as a prisoner of war until his release in December of the same year.
NEF or better & complete with his original soldiers demobilization account, a letter he sent home whilst a prisoner of war, a Red Cross postcard to say he had arrived back in England. Along with copy Boer war service papers, WW1 MIC & POW details.
