Robert Charles Sidney Ford was awarded the military M.B.E in the London gazette 1-4-1941 for services in the Middle East whilst serving as a Sub Conductor (WO.CL.1) with the R.A.O.C at Sarafand.
He went on to be awarded the LS&GC in army order 62 of 1942 & the medal was issued to him in November 1945.
The recommendation for the award of the M.B.E states.
This Warrant officer was , at the beginning of the war, the chief clerk of the local purchase depot at Sarafand. As such he was largely instrumental in the arrangement of purchasing of accommodation stores for the 1st cavalry division & the Australian division. He did not spare time to the enormous task, but working at high pressure because the divisions overlapped in their arrival. He was always efficient & cheerful & obtained the utmost of his subordinates by his cheery optimism & tact. A very good example to all soldiers. He has since done excellent work as chief clerk to D.A.D.O.S & has been invaluable, An outstanding warrant officer of the greatest value.
The M.B.E is mint in its case of issue & the rest of the group is NEF & swing mounted on a bar as worn.
Complete with basic research details including London gazette & medal roll details. Along with the original Bucking palace forwarding letter for the M.B.E & a original letter of congratulations on the award of the M.B.E from the director of Ordnance stores Cairo.
