Valentine Oliver from Hawick served with the 1/4th battalion of the K.O.S.B & was wounded in North West Europe 22-12-1944. This was reported in the war office casualty list dated 4-1-1945. He went on to be mentioned in despatches for services in North West Europe in the London gazette dated 4-4-1946 & was awarded his efficiency medal in army order 134 of 1946. He applied for the issue of his campaign medals in 1950 whilst living at 110 Silverbutt Hall, Hawick, Roxburghshire.
