Eric Albert Claxton was the son of the reverend.A.E.Claxton and was born in Central China where his father was serving as a missionary with the London Mission. He was educated at Eltham college & Queen's college Oxford. He was commissioned in to the Inns of Court O.T.C in April 1917 & arrived on France in July of the same year serving with the 18th service battalion of the K.R.R.C (Arts & Crafts Btn) He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 31-7-1917 just 11 days after arriving in France. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Menin gate memorial at Ypres.
