Samuel Harold Hunt enlisted in to the Household battalion 6-5-1916 & was a resident of Ditton, Widnes, Lancashire. He landed in France 26-3-1917 & on May the 3rd 1917 he was severely wounded in the legs by shrapnel at Arras whilst withdrawing from an attack. this is well written up in his service record & lists all hospital & casualty clearing stations that he was treated at prior to his discharge with a silver war badge 12-4-1918. He stated he was wounded by shrapnel whilst on a number of occasions his papers refer to gun shot wounds?
