John William Brown from Goole was one of the original members of the 10th service battalion of the East Yorkshire Regiment / Hull Pals. He first landed in Egypt 22-12-1915 & went on to be awarded the MM for services in France in the London gazette 10-11-1916. He was commissioned in to the 10th service battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment / Green Howards & was attached to the 5th battalion when he died of wounds in France & Flanders 11-4-1918 age 30. He is buried in Croix-Du-Bac British cemetery at Steenwerck & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of John & Rebecca Brown of 151 Pasture Road, Goole, Yorks.
