David Hutchinson served overseas during WW1 with the 11th service battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers & on his return home in 1919 he went on to enlist in to the 6th battalion of the Highland Light Infantry. He was awarded the Territorial efficiency medal in army order 32 of 1932 & the efficiency medal with territorial suspender in army order 84 of 1940. During WW2 he served as a C.S.MJR with both the 6th H.L.I & the A&S.Highrs but was discharged 16-7-42. He applied for the issue of his WW2 campaign medal in February 1949 whilst living at 69 Durham Street, Glasgow.
