John Conway first landed in France 26-11-1914 serving with the 1st battalion of the Border Regiment. He sadly died of wounds on Christmas day 25-12-1914. He was born in Cockermouth & enlisted in Selby. Whilst living in Brackenber. He is buried in Exeter higher cemetery and was a 36 year old Boer war veteran.
