Complete with a nice selection of original documents. Comprising of an illustrated letter dated December 1897 as sent by the recipient to his wife Alice from HMS Rattler on the China station, His original marriage certificate dated 1900 & his widows 100th birthday telegram from the Queen dated 13-7-1965.
John Samuel Forth was born in Dover 19-11-1870 & joined the Royal Navy in 1890. He served onboard HMS Rattler in China 1897 & went on to be awarded the RN LS&GC in 1905 before being pensioned to shore in 1912. He was recalled for service in WW1 & spent most of his service afloat onboard HMS Ark Royal & HMS Thesus.
