Lieutenant Watson was both wounded & taken prisoner of war by the Germans in Italy 1-2-1944 whilst attached to the 2/4th K.O.Y.L.I. He was held as P.O.W number 128871 at Oflag O79 at Braunschweig. After he was released from captivity he went on to serve in Palestine & was awarded a regimentally rare GSM with Palestine 1945-48 Clasp.The recipient was born in Cardiff in 1918 & passed away in Uppingham, Rutland 17-1-1991.
NEF/GVF & Court mounted as worn. Slightly later issues as claimed by the recipient in later life. Hence the large suspension rings of the WW2 campaign stars & the Swivel suspender on the GSM. Complete with a large archive of original documents as pictured.
