John Miller was born in Newcastle on Tyne & enlisted in to the Black Watch at Newcastle in 1892 under the Alias of John Thomas Lewis. He served with the 1st battalion in South Africa from 6-12-1901 to 27-10-1902 & then went on to serve in India until his discharge in 1913.
