The recipient was awarded the DCM for services with the 6th Mounted infantry in the London gazette 27-9-1901 & was one of only two mounted infantry DCM recipients to the regiment for the Boer war. He was also M.I.D for special meritorious service in South Africa in the London gazette 4-9-1901. He was commissioned in to the 7th battalion of the regiment in 27-7-1916 & attached to the Kings African Rifles. He was M.I.D for services with the East African forces 31-1-1919 & died in 1935.
