Roderick Bell from Thornaby on Tees was born 1880 & enlisted in to the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at Alloa 17-2-1898. He served with the regiment during the Boer war of 1899-1902 & was posted to the reserve in 1905. He was recalled for service in WW1 & first landed in France 3-11-1914. He was wounded at Arras in 1917 & again in 1918 & was discharged with a silver war badge No-B344454 in 1919.
