WW1 1914-15 Trio & Memorial plaque with original two page letter of condolence to the recipients mother from his Commanding officer.

George King Hicks Cochrane first landed in France 24-2-1915 serving with the 9th Royal Scots. He was commissioned in to the Highland Light Infantry in November 1915 & went on to be attached to the 1/1st Gurkha rifles (The Malaun regiment) in Mesopotamia. He was killed in action during the fighting around Baghdad 25-3-1917 when he received a fatal wound to the head. He was 22 years of age at the time of his death & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Basra memorial. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of the late John Cochrane of 10 Kilmaurs terrace, Edinburgh.
