James Lindsay from Dundee was born in 1896 & originally enlisted in to the Black Watch 5-8-1915. He first landed in France 16-12-1915 serving with the 9th battalion. He was wounded on the Somme in August 1916 & after recovering from his injuries he was posted to the 1st battalion. He was awarded the MM for his bravery at Givenchy 18-4-1918 & was also wounded for a second time during this action. He was discharged with a silver war badge in 1919 due to a gun shot wound to his abdomen. He was living at 50 North Ellen Street in Dundee when he claimed his disability pension in 1919. His MM was published in the London gazette dated 6-8-1918 and this stated that he was a resident of Dundee.
