Gordon Tait was born in Walkerburn, Pebbleshire & was the son of Mrs Jean McDonald of Jubilee Road, Walkerburn. He enlisted in Walkerburn & first landed in France 5-11-1914 serving with the 8th battalion of the Royal Scots. He was wounded in France 31-8-1916 & He was sadly killed in action 22-3-1918 during the March offensive & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Arras memorial & recorded by the CWGC as being 23 years of age at the time of his death.
