James Spence Sutton was one of the original members of the 22nd service battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers / 3rd Tyneside Scottish. He was killed in action serving with D- Company in France & Flanders 1-7-1916 on the first day of the battle of the Somme. He was born in Bradling Village, Northumberland & enlisted in Newcastle on Tyne.He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial on the Somme.
