William Robertson Houston was commissioned in to the 12th service battalion of the Royal Scots & first landed in France 23-6-1915. He was attached to the 1st battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers when he was wounded by a shell at St Eloi 27-3-1916 & he sadly died of wounds the following day 28-3-1916 at Lijssenthoek in Belgium & as such is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.He was 22 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the C.W.G.C as the late son of Mr John Houston of 135 Grieve Street, Dunfermline, Fife.
