2X WW1 Memorial plaque groups to brothers from Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire.
1) 1914-15 Trio & Memorial Plaque
To- 20231.PTE.J.MURDOCH.K.O.S.B
James Grierson Murdoch was born in Langholm & enlisted in Dumfries whilst living in the Haugh of Urr, Kirkcudbright. He first landed overseas in theatre of war 2B Gallipoli / The Balkans serving with the 1st battalion of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 3-9-1916 serving with the 2nd battalion & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial to the missing on the Somme. He was 24 years of age at the time of his death.
2) WW1 Pair & Memorial Plaque

William Murdoch lived in Dalbeattie & enlisted in Dumfries. He died in Mesopotamia 27-6-1916 serving with the Royal Engineers reinforcements. He was 28 years of age at the time of his death. He is buried in Basra war cemetery.
Both men are recorded by the CWGC as the two sons of Alexander & Elizabeth Murdoch of the Haugh of Urr. Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire.
Both groups are NEF or better & come complete with MIC details for both recipients along with details from both SDGW & the CWGC.
