Harold Burhall from East Sheen, London was born 25-6-1889 & was commissioned in to the R.F.C in 1915. He first served overseas with 12 Squadron in Egypt 1916 & was M.I.D in the London gazette 14-1-1918 & 6-7-1917. These were then followed by a third M.I.D for services in Egypt in the London gazette 5-3-1919 & the award of the D.S.O in the London gazette 1-1-1918. He continued to serve after the war & in 1935 he published a book entitled the politics of international air routes (a copy of this book is included with the recipients group) He transferred to the Admin & special duties branch in December 1939 as a flying officer. He died in Hampshire 19-10-1964 age 75.
