GSM PALESTINE & WW2 GROUP, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT & C.M.P / R.M.P, FROM HULL, WITH ORIGINAL SERVICE DOCUMENTS & PAPERWORK

Samuel Leslie Savage was born in Hull 12-8-1915 and enlisted in to the East Yorkshire Regiment in Hull 18-3-1934.After service at home with the regiment he went on to service in Palestine during the Arab revolt & served in Palestine 14-9-1936 to 10-12-1937. He returned home for three months & then went to serve in India with the regiment from 25-3-1938 to 14-5-1944. He transferred to the Corps of Military police 29-11-1944 & served with them in N.W.Europe from 26-4-1945 to 8-12-1945. He returned home 9-12-1945 & took his discharge from the R.M.P 27-3-1946. He went on to enlist in to the East Yorkshire regiment T.A in Hull 12-5-1947 and took his final discharge 18-5-1955. His service in N.W Europe did not give him enough time to qualify for a 1939-45 Star & his service in India was considered to be a home posting & only qualified him for the Defence & War Medals. As such he finished up with a unusual combination of medals.

Complete with copy medal roll details for the award of the GSM & a nice archive of original service documents that include 2x AB 64 army paybooks, Regular army certificate of service, Territorial certificate of service, Territorial enlistment papers, the recipients service bible & the back cover from his discharge certificate that states he served with 15th Scottish Division Pro Coy C.M.P (P). Along with a small wooden box with the East Yorkshire regiment badge & the recipients name embossed in gold on to the lid of the box.
