William Mounsey first landed in France 22-9-1914 serving with the 1st battalion. He was awarded the immediate M.S.M for services in France & Flanders in the London gazette 18-10-1916. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 4-1-1917 serving with the 9th battalion. He was both born, enlisted & lived in Burnley.
GVF or better & complete with basic research details including MIC details, London gazette details & details from both SDGW & the CWGC along with a good copy newspaper article from his local newspaper that includes a good photograph of the recipient in uniform.
It is worthy of note that his British war & Victory medal pair were returned to the mint & as such this pair are the only medals actually issued to the recipients next of kin & all that is actually missing from this group is the clasp to the recipients 1914 star that is confirmed on his MIC.
