Charles Nicol from Aberdeen enlisted in to the Gordon Highlanders in December 1888 & served with the Regiment in India during the 1895 relief of Chitral. He went on to serve with the regiment during the Boer war of 1899-1902 & finally took his discharge in February 1902 after 12 years service.
