Rowland Shephard was born in Brockley & enlisted at Nunhead. He first landed in France 20-9-1914 serving with the 1st battalion of the Royal Fusiliers and was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 21-2-1915. He is buried in La Chapelle D'Armentieres communal cemetery.
