Richard Morris was born in Knersley, Salop & enlisted in Oswestry, Newport. He first landed in France 22-5-1915 & went on to be awarded the Military Medal (MM) for services in France in the London gazette 2-11-1917 & this stated that he was a resident of Newport, Salop. He had previously been mentioned in despatches for services in France in the London gazette 25-5-1917 & he was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 21-8-1918 age 27 & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Vis En Artois memorial & recorded by the CWGC as the late son of George Morris of Childs Ercall, Market Drayton, Shropshire.
