John Joseph Keith from Dundee enlisted in to the 1/4th Black Watch on the outbreak of war and first landed in France with the battalion 26-2-1915 but was serving with the 4/5th battalion when he was awarded his DCM in the London gazette 3-9-1918 with the following citation.
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He went out in daylight with his platoon commander and one man, and rushed a machine-gun post, capturing two prisoners and put the remainder to flight. Under heavy fire he carried back his officer, who was seriously wounded. He behaved magnificently.
He was discharged in 1919 & passed away in Dundee in 1955.
