WW2 PARACHUTE REGIMENT / A.A.C GROUP WITH R.A.D.C GSM MALAYA, WOUNDED OPERATION VARSITY 1945

Leslie Graham Ludwell was born in Wales 26-1-1924 & initially was called up for service with the Royal Navy. He served for 63 days with the RN before initially transferring to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers with service number 14985135. After just 17 days service with the RWF he joined the Parachute Regiment / A.A.C. He undertook parachute course B150 at Ringway between 22-1-1945 & 9-2-1945 & went on to be deployed to the 12th battalion of the Parachute regiment. He was on operation varsity during the Rhine crossing and was wounded by gun shot to his upper right arm 24-3-1945. He remained with the regiment after recovering from his wounds & was placed on the reserve in 1946. He was discharged from the reserve in 1949 & joined the 16th Welsh TA battalion of the Parachute Regiment. He rejoined the Reguar Army in 1950 and served with the Royal Army Dental Corps in Malaya. Before finally taking his discharge 6-11-1962. He died in Taunton Somerset 30-12-1977.
