Frederick West from Burnley was killed in action at Spion Kop 24-1-1900 serving with the 2nd battalion of the Royal Lancaster Regiment. He was 29 years of age at the time of his death & had enlisted in to the regiment in 1893 whilst living with his mother Caroline Weston of 62 North Street, Burnley.
