Joseph Bertram Carter from Pellon, Halifax was born 1896 and served overseas with the 2/4th battalion of the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment. He was taken prisoner of war at Bullecourt 11-8-1917 serving with B-Company. He returned to the UK as a returned POW 17-12-1918 and was discharged to the class Z army reserve 20-4-1919.
