George Hindle from Preston first landed in France 6-11-1914 serving with the 2nd battalion with service number 10250. He was wounded in France on three separate occasions and went on to be awarded the DCM in the London gazette 28-1-1918 whilst serving with the 2/5th battalion with the following citation.
For Conspicuous gallantry & devotion to duty as a Lewis gun serjeant. He invariably displayed great courage & initiative & set a fine example to all ranks.
