MINT BOXED WW1 PAIR, 9th N.STAFF.REGT & RE OFFICER, TWICE M.I.D & ENTITLED TO THE CIVIL C.B.E

Herbert Edgar Lunn first landed in France 29-7-1915 serving as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 9th service battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment. He was an old boy of Tamworth Grammar school and had held a number of civic appointments with local councils in Worcester and London before being commissioned. He was M.I.D for services in France with the North Staffordshire Regiment in the London gazette 25-5-1917 and later went on to transfer to the Royal Engineers. He was again M.I.D for services in France with the Royal Engineers in the London gazette 7-7-1919 and after relinquishing his commission he applied for the issue of his 1914-15 trio in 1922 whilst living in Tamworth. He was awarded the 1953 Coronation medal as Surveyor for East Essex County Council and went on to be awarded the Civil C.B.E in the new years honours list 1-1-1955 also for services as County surveyor for East Essex.
