John Gowrie was both born & enlisted in Coupar Angus, Perth & was serving with the 1/6th battalion of the Black Watch when he was wounded on the Somme 25-10-1916. He died of his wounds in the 13th General hospital at Boulogne 29-1-1917 and is buried in Boulogne eastern cemetery. He was 23 years of age at the time of his death and is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Charles Gowrie of Union place, School road, Coupar Angus, Perthshire.
