William Turnbull was born in Falkirk and enlisted in Grangemouth, Stirlingshire. He first arrived in France with service number 6275 but was issued with the later TF service number 202177. He was sadly killed in France & Flanders 21-33-1918 on the first day of the March offensive. He was 21 years of age at the time of his death & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Arras memorial. The CWGC state that he was the late son of Andrew & Jemima Turnbull of 43 Phillip Street, Bainsford, Falkirk.
