Walter Balshaw was the son of the late Walter Balshaw, Solicitor from Bolton, Lancs. He first landed in France 23-9-1914 serving with the 2nd battalion of the Manchester Regiment and was killed in action in France & Flanders 20-10-1914 during the battalions bayonet charge at La Bassee. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Le Touret memorial & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Walter & Florence.E.A.Balshaw of Ivydene, 571 Chorley old road, Bolton, Lancs.
