Alfred.J.Rutledge first landed in France 10-9-1914 serving with the 1st battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France & Flanders 19-5-1915 & is buried in Ferme Buterne military cemetery at Houplines. He was born in Dover & enlisted in Kent.
He is entitled to the August to November clasp for his 1914 star & this was issued to his next of kin in 1921. Sadly the clasp is missing from the ribbon of the medal.
