Jack Light was awarded the Military B.E.M in the London gazette 16-4-1942 for services with the 5th Indian division in Greece, Egypt & Syria & the recommendation states.
During all his service & particularly during the equipping of this unit in August. S-Sgt Light has always acted with a strong sense of duty and his untiring efforts under difficult working conditions have been responsible for the efficient way in which stores have been received & issued. He received his LS&GC 8-2-1952 & was awarded the 1953 coronation medal the following year. He was commissioned lieutenant 30-7-1954, Captain in 1957 & Major in 1963 just prior to leaving the army.
