Reginald Henry Simpson first landed in France 24-5-1915 serving with the 1/4th battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France & Flanders 7-7-1915 & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial at Ypres. He was 24 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of John Henry & Julia Hannah Simpson of West Lee, Mirfield, Yorks. He was a pre war Rugby League player for Batley & is written up in the Yorkshire R.U.F.C Book with a photograph.
