Alfred Ernest Fletcher enlisted in to the RAF in 1938 and became a Sgt Pilot. He was commissioned as a flying officer in the early stages of WW2 & was a Squadron leader by the wars end. He spent most of his war training pilots & air crew in South Africa with NO-42 air school at Port Elizabeth & was awarded the Air Force Cross for his services in the London gazette 1-1-1945. He continued to serve post war & finally took his discharge in 1958 after 20 years service.
Complete with the case of issue for the A.F.C, three pilots log books that log all of his service, a photo of Smuts presenting his AFC, Other ranks paybook, 50 assorted photographs that include photos of crash sites, ariel photographs & course photographs, letters of congratulations & other assorted genuine documents & letters.
The AFC is mint cased & the rest of the group is court mounted as worn.
