John Strickland from Ambleside first landed in France 26-9-1915 serving with the 8th battalion of the Border Regiment. He transferred to the 2nd battalion of the East Lancashire regiment & is recorded on the war office casualty listed dated 25-6-1918 as having been wounded in France & he went on to be awarded the Military Medal also for services in France & Flanders in the London Gazette dated 13-9-1918. He was discharged with a pension due t gun shot wounds and gas poisoning 22-2-1919.
NEF/GVF & Complete with MIC details, London gazette details, pension card details & medal roll details. His trio is named to the Border Regiment whilst his MM would be named to the E.lanc.Regt.
