George Busby Armstrong from Gateshead enlisted in to the Imperial Yeomanry in Newcastle 12-2-1901 & after service in South Africa took his discharge in September 1902. He rejoined the colours for service in WW1 & served with the 6th battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment. He was recorded on the war office casualty listed as missing in June 1918 & was later confirmed to be a prisoner of war in German Hands. He was released in December 1918 & went on to serve with the Special Constabulary & is probably also entitled to the WW2 Defence Medal?
NEF with two original letters as sent home by the recipient whilst a prisoner of war. Along with his original soldiers demobilization account & copy Boer war service papers, WW1 MIC & POW roll details.
