Tom Curry was born in Boldon Colliery and enlisted in Sunderland whilst living in Castletown. He first landed in France 30-6-1915 & was killed in action in France & Flanders 22-9-1917 serving with the 2nd battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial.
