WW1 1914-15 Trio & GVR 2nd type RN LS&GC

John Edwin Thornton was born in Durham 18-3-93 and enlisted in to the Royal Navy as a boy in 1911. He served onboard HMS New Zealand 1913-1919 including service at Heligoland Bight, Dogger Bank, and Jutland. He was awarded his LS&GC in 1926 whilst serving onboard HMS Valiant and was still serving in 1939. He died in Sunderland in 1949.
