William Pretswell was a shepherd living at Burnfoot, Ashkirk, Selkirk when he enlisted in to the 1/4th K.O.S.B in 1939. He served with the battalion at the fall of France / Dunkirk with the B.E.F & then returned to the UK until he went on to serve in North West Europe 1944-1946. He died in 1987 still living & working on the same farm he was born on in 1913.
