Ernest Julier was a resident of Mile End enlisted in to the 8th Hussars in 1894 but bought himself out after just over two years service. He enlisted in to the British South Africa police and served in Rhodesia. He was slightly wounded at Mafeking 16-5-1900 and left the service in 1902. He enlisted in to the 24th Home counties battalion of the Rifle Brigade on the outbreak of WW1 and served in India. Hence his sole entitlement to the British War Medal.
The BSA coy medal has light brooch marks in the obverse field but otherwise the group is GVF or better & comes with a large selection of the recipients original service documents from all of his military service including a very nice 1918 spoof certificate of gallantry from his comrades for killing a very large Indian rat that attacked two of his sleeping comrades.
Along with copy medal & casualty roll details.
