Maurice Alexander Ross Gerald Fitzmaurice was the son of John Day Stokes Fitzmaurice of the Indian Civil service (Judge of Dharwar) he was educated at Felstead School & served with the 21st field company of the Royal Engineers. He was badly wounded at Neuve Chapelle 28-10-1914 & was M.I.D for his services in France in the London gazette 20-11-1914. He returned to his unit 19-2-1915 and was killed in action 5-8-1915.
He is buried in Cabaret Rouge British cemetery at Souchez and was 23 years of age at the time of his death.
